Exchange Students

The Office of International Education & Development welcomes you to Boone, NC and Appalachian State University.   At Appalachian State University, the Office of International Education & Development provides a wide range of services for exchange students and is a primary resource for all.  This office assists all international students and scholars in matters concerning orientation, housing, visa regulations, insurance, travel and medical information.

If you are interested in an exchange program at Appalachian State University, please contact your International Office first for details of direct exchange.  Students must be selected by the their respective home institutions and applications mailed from that office.   Applications mailed by students directly cannot be accepted.

Orientation Schedule - Fall Semester

The closest and most economic option for airports is Charlotte, NC.   Pick up service is only provided from Charlotte on this date.  If you arrive at another time please plan to arrive to Greensboro where you can take a public bus to Boone.

Monday - August 18, 2008 Bus for transportation service to Boone from Quality Inn (airport hotel Queen City Drive)
Tuesday - August 19, 2008 First day of the International Student Orientation mandatory 8.30am in room 224 I.G. Greer Hall
Wednesday - August 20, 2008 Final day of International Student Orientation mandatory / transfer student orientation
Thursday - August 21, 2008 Orientation Course - Registration for degree seeking Freshman
Friday - August 22, 2008 Orientation Course - Registration for degree seeking Freshman
Saturday - August 23, 2008 Option activities/shopping trips
Sunday - August 24, 2008 Option activities/shopping trips
Monday - August 25, 2008 Add/drop registration
